The term “Robo-Calls” continue to make headlines as complaints and law suits spiral from marketing companies who take advantage of generating calls from overseas and spoofing numbers for illegitimate use.

As the FCC and Congress consider additional laws & regulations to curb abusers, how will these proposals impact members of COHEAO who are seeking to assist students and borrowers using Automated Dialing Systems and other electronic means of communication such at texting?

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia issued a landmark decision on March 16, 2018.  This court decision combined with the Petition for Declaratory Ruling that was filed on May 3rd has the potential to change the landscape in respect to future compliance and exposure to liability.

COHEAO’S guest speaker Mark Brennan will provide a brief historic synopsis of the TCPA, and how this law has evolved over the years and then shift the focus of the webinar discussion to the current status of regulations, legislation, and share a summary on what the future direction may be for TCPA.  The webinar will conclude with some recommendations on best practices to obtain consent from borrowers to provide the ability to reach students utilizing Automated Dialing Systems.
